PSN hack events and GeoHotz

As posted on the cpsc 430 blog:

The anons stated that they in no means meant any harm towards the consumers and that this target was only dealt to sony. None the less it affected the consumers as much since the online play was completely shut off.

To this day I still question whether their actions were justified or not. We see that they did this because of the geohotz incident where Geohotz 'jailbroke' the ps3 and sony filed a lawsuit against him.[More Info here] A multi million company using every available resource through money to completely corner down on an average citizen that can't hope to win financially.
What George Hotz did, in my opinion, isn't wrong. He explored the security issues with his device that he legitimately bought from sony [here we can see that the issue of buying products now a days - is it owned by the buyer or is the buyer simply 'renting' this product?] and ran applications on it. In the end Sony and Geohotz settled the case outside of court followed by the events of anons hacking into Sony. Some would think that this may be a retaliation staged by George but I doubt it.
